Abstract :

Forelectricdrivevehiclesinclud ingelectricvehicles,pluginhybridelectricvehiclesa ndhybridelectricvehicles,ahybridenergystorages ystem(HESS)isrecommended.Thetraditionalene rgystoragesystemcontainsonlybatterywithlarger boostconvertertomeetthesteadystateandmaximu mpowerrequirements[2].Theproposeddesignboo ststhevoltagelevelsofbatteryandultracapacitorus ingmuchsmallerboostconverterstomeetsteadysta teandmaximumpowerrequirementsbasedonther oadconditions.Batteryprovidespowerdirectlyonl ywhenthevehicleisundersteadystateconditionand wheneverthevehicleexperiencestotransientcondit ion;ultracapacitorcomestothepictureandprovide sthenecessarypeakpowerrequiredtothevehicle.W iththisarrangementbatterycanbeseparatedfromc ontinuouscharginganddischargingproblem, andfurther it increases the batterylife.
