Abstract :

This paper focus on the thrust ripples in a permanent magnet linear synchronous motor. The main drawback in PMLSM is thrust ripples, which is mainly generated by the detent force. This detent force is due to the interaction between the permanent magnets and armature slotted core. This will drop the performance of the drive system in high precision applications especially at low speeds.
